Application Announcement for Exchange Program Spring 2026 UC Berkeley 3+1+X Program Application Now Open

The application deadline for students from the Department of Medical Science and the Interdisciplinary Program of Life Science, College of Life Sciences and Medicine is September 9, 2025 (Tuesday) at 5:00 PM.
Please submit application documents to the Department Office (Life Science Building II, Room 205).


II. Program Framework

Students applying for the 3+1+X Program will complete three years of study at National Tsing Hua University. In their fourth year, they will study at a partner institution, taking senior-year courses or pre-master’s courses (students must confirm pre-taken courses and graduation credit arrangements in advance with their department/institute).
Upon completion of study, if admitted through the partner university’s master’s entrance examination, students may continue their master’s program at the partner institution.


III. Eligibility and Restrictions

  1. Applicants must be students currently enrolled at National Tsing Hua University in the Department of Power Mechanical Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Department of Engineering and System Science, Interdisciplinary Program of College of Engineering, College of Nuclear Science, College of Life Sciences and Medicine, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, or College of Science, and will enter their senior year in September 2025.

  2. Cumulative GPA must be 3.3 or above. (If spring semester grades are unavailable at the time of application, applicants must submit supplementary transcripts to the Office of Global Affairs by September 18, 2025. However, if the final GPA does not meet the standard, the student cannot be nominated to the partner university.)

  3. English proficiency requirement: TOEFL iBT 90, TOEFL PBT 577, IELTS 7.0, or Duolingo 125 or higher.

  4. If the English score does not meet the requirement at the application deadline, applicants are advised to submit proof of test registration or intended test date. Applicants who pass the department/institute’s oral English test may be conditionally accepted; however, official English test proof must be submitted before departure to the U.S. and confirmed by both universities, otherwise the nomination will be revoked.

V. Application Method

(1) Review Procedure (Simplified):
Departmental review → College review → Office of Global Affairs review & nomination → Partner university review

(2) Application Process:

  1. Required Documents
    All documents must be typed, with handwritten signatures where required. Documents must be printed on A4 paper in order, with page numbers centered at the bottom, one set, clipped with a binder clip at the top-left corner (no other binding method).
    In addition to hard copies, all documents must be scanned into a single PDF file in the same order and submitted to the receiving office.
